The Greatest Depression

“ Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,
      “ That I will send a famine on the land,
      Not a famine of bread,
      Nor a thirst for water,
      But of hearing the words of the LORD.
       "They shall wander from sea to sea,
      And from north to east;
      They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD,
      But shall not find it."

Amos 8:11-12 NKJV

Some may question this and wonder how could such a thing happen in America? Although if you examine the condition of society today you may actually be able to see the beginning stages of it. We have many preachers spreading the gospel of health, wealth and prosperity but how many actually relay the Word of God to the people?
You may even ask how can this be so in America when you can find a Bible in any bookstore, thrift store or hotel room? You may say this is not a third world country where owning a Bible is illegal, and that is true...at the moment, but for how long?
I do not know how or when this will happen, but I am most sure that our generation will see this happen.
I know that in the present economic condition of our country one may think we should be more concerned with being able to put food on our tables for our families to fill their stomachs and yes we all need to eat, but what is more inportant? Our bodies or our spirit?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear? But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Matthew 6:31, 33
